Review-ish: EZD6

Well, for starters EZD6 is a trash system and if you like it you're a moron or a shill.  Or you're a person completely ignorant of FKR.  Or you're an idiot who likes roll-n-hope systems because your puny brain can't understand risk normally, even with a single die.

Yeah, sorry for not burying the lead.  EZD6 is basically a FKR game without the decency to be Pay-What-You-Want AKA Pay-What-It's-Worth which is nothing.  If you went and grabbed Landshut you'd basically have a better version of EZD6.  114 pages for $12.50; greater than 10 cents per page for a PDF is highway robbery.  Like a FKR game EZD6 doesn't bother with stats, skills, levels, advancement, math, usefulness, effort, or ingenuity.  It's the starting point of a game made better (by turning more traditional) or lighter (by removing more D&D trash).  It sits at a moronic place between the two.

As to the game itself, it's stupid.  Roll a d6 - on a 1 you crit fail and on a 6 you crit succeed.  This is the sort of system you come up with when you're 12 and think what everybody needs is more crits for happy to happen at the table.  What fucking amateur hour design.  This is the baseline of the entire system, the backbone which has a terrible case of spina bifida.

Long story short, you could play a better free game than this (there are hundreds).  Hell you could play a better game using landshut and whatever D&D books you happen to have lying around.  This is a despicable waste of effort attached to a shill-report marketing strategy and probably a little Artpunk frosting.

Lastly, this is the worst shillery I've seen in a product that isn't WotC (or Arcane Library).  It's obvious this dude printed up several copies and set them out using his own status as a youtuber to get the put on the top of several other youtuber's lists.  All set to glowing reviews.  Well yes I've seen it before and knew it existed, but getting YouTube to recommend me multiple glowing reviews of this shit game all at once is going to generate this blog post.

I have watched several of said reviews, read the product preview on DTRPG, and this is how my opinion was ascertained.  I've been around long enough that I don't actually have to own a book to know it's shit, and this one is a fucking stinker.

Also because RUNEHAMMER GAMES put it out, it calls into question anything else they produce.

EDIT: The same company, months later, used the same strategy to produce the turd Shadowdark.  For this insolence I hereby excommunicate RUNEHAMMER GAMES and everything they produce or have produced from the OSR.  My will be done.

EDIT2: Months later, I managed to get a copy of EZD6.  It did not change my opinion.  If anything, it affirmed and reinforced it.  It's strange how often my guesses are better than other people actually knowing things.
